In Maheshbhatna village of Kishanganj district, Pooja (name changed), a 14-year-old girl from a financially weak family, was forced to drop out of school and was being pushed into early marriage.
Upon receiving information about the situation, the team of Janata Express Welfare Foundation intervened and initiated continuous counselling with the family. The team explained the harmful consequences and legal implications of child marriage.
When the family initially did not agree, support from the local administration was sought. Alongside this, an awareness program was conducted in the community to highlight the importance of education and the risks associated with child marriage.
As a result of these collective efforts, the child marriage was successfully prevented. Today, Pooja has been re-enrolled in school and is continuing her education with confidence and hope for a better future.
