A girl, a silence… and a turning point that changed everything
In Simlabari village of Kishanganj lived Pooja Kumari (fictional). From the outside, her life looked ordinary, but inside, there was a quiet struggle that no one really noticed. She was a student of class 9.
She liked going to school, but there was always a fear in her mind—that her studies might stop at any time. Her family was not financially strong.
Her father earned a living by selling fish, and it was difficult to manage all household needs with that income. Slowly, things at home started to change.
Where earlier there were talks about studies, now there were discussions about her marriage. "What is the use of studying more… she is a girl, she will get married anyway."
Such sentences became common in her life. Pooja Kumari (fictional) heard everything…
but she could not say anything.
When silence became her only voice
One day she realized that it was no longer just talk.
Her marriage was being planned. She would sit with her books,
but her mind was somewhere else. There was only one question in her heart—
"Will everything end now?" She did not cry…
she just stayed quiet. Because she felt that her voice did not matter.
When someone understood that silence
Around this time, somehow this matter reached Janta Express Welfare Foundation. After that, things slowly began to change. A team visited her home and started talking to her family.
They didn’t force anything, they just tried to explain. In the beginning, the situation was not easy.
The family had their own mindset. But the conversations continued. They explained how early marriage at a young age could affect her education and her entire future.
They spoke patiently, again and again. And finally, one day—
the family decided to stop the marriage.
A chance that changed everything
That day did not have any celebration…
but for Pooja Kumari (fictional), it meant everything. She was sent back to school. This time, she did not see studies as just a routine,
but as her path forward. She continued her education with determination. At the same time, she learned sewing as a skill,
so that she could become independent in the future.
Pooja Kumari (fictional) today
Today, Pooja Kumari (fictional) is no longer the same. After completing her matriculation, she has continued her further studies. Along with her education, she has learned sewing and is developing multiple skills. She is becoming self-reliant, balancing both her studies and her work. The girl who once could not speak,
now expresses herself openly and with confidence.
A silence that found its voice
Today, Pooja Kumari (fictional) understands how important timely support can be. If no one had stepped in at the right moment,
her life could have gone in a completely different direction. Now her story is reaching other girls
who are still silent. And maybe that is the real change—
when one silence turns into a voice for many others.
